Neurology Department @ Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital
The Neurology Unit provides specialized care for patients presenting with a wide range of neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Our team diagnoses and manages disorders such as headaches, migraines, epilepsy, and stroke, as well as neurological symptoms including numbness, pain, and conditions related to increased intracranial pressure.
The unit also treats neurosurgical-related cases, including injuries from falls or trauma, spinal and cervical disorders, disc herniation, and degenerative conditions such as osteoarthritis. Each patient receives a thorough clinical assessment and a personalized treatment plan, with referrals coordinated with other specialist units when needed.
Diagnosis is supported by specialized equipment for nerve conduction studies and electroencephalography (EEG), enabling precise evaluation of neurological function. With approximately 50 to 100 patients received daily, the unit serves as an essential point of care for both neurological and neurosurgical conditions, working in close collaboration with the hospital's clinical and surgical units.
