Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital
Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital is a major tertiary healthcare facility located in the holy city of Najaf, around 160 km south of Baghdad. Built between 2009 and 2014 by a German company and officially inaugurated in July 2024, it was conceived to serve as a leading referral centre for the region and beyond. Today, the hospital is managed by Gruppo San Donato and GKSD Investment Holding in partnership with the Iraqi government, bringing international standards of care, advanced technology, and modern management practices to the Iraqi healthcare system.
With 492 inpatient beds, 11 state-of-the-art operating theatres, and 24 intensive care beds, the hospital offers comprehensive services across the most important clinical and surgical specialties, including cardiology, internal medicine, oncology, orthopedics and traumatology, padiatrics, and gynecology. Supported by a team of approximately 3,000 medical, technical, and administrative staff, Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital combines advanced medical expertise with a commitment to patient-centred care, positioning itself as a reference point for quality healthcare in Iraq.
