Biography
Dr. Zainalabdin Ali Abdulhassan Al-Asadi is a Consultant in General Surgery and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, serving as Head of the General Surgery Division at Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital. He performs a full range of general surgical procedures and advanced laparoscopic surgeries, with a particular focus on hiatal hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, bariatric laparoscopic surgery, and oncologic surgery.
Memberships, Certifications & Academic Roles
Clinical Consultant: Granted the title of Supervisor (Consultant) in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (December 2022) and officially appointed as Consultant in General Surgery (November 2023).
He received his ministerial authorization for laparoscopic surgery in September 2017.Medical Training: Accredited as a trainer for Arab Board students by ministerial order (January 2022) and appointed to work alongside the Director of the General Surgery Training Program at Najaf Training Center (2023).
Committee Memberships: Elected to the Advisory Committee for Laparoscopic Surgery at the Najaf Health Department (2018–2019). He has been selected multiple times as a member of research discussion committees for Arab Board students at Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital (2023, 2024) and the Najaf Training Center (2025).
Professional Affiliations: Joined the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) in 2023 and is an active member of the Iraqi Society of Surgeons.

Awards: Awarded the Shield of Creativity and Excellence for representing Iraqi surgeons at the International Medical Conference “Future Outlook for Medical Sciences” (Istanbul, August 2022), sponsored by the WHO and Imperial College London.
Publications: Holds the copyright (2013) for the educational booklet “ZAINI Clinical Notes OSCE and Commonly Asked Questions for Postgraduate Surgical Students.”
