Biography
Dr. Luca Paoletti, MPharm, MSc is the Chief of Pharmacy Department at Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital - Policlinico San Donato (GSD).
Dr. Luca Paoletti is a hospital pharmacist specialized in institutional pharmacy, with international experience in pharmaceutical operations, research, and healthcare system organization. He currently serves as Chief of the Pharmacy Department at Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital in Iraq, an affiliate of the San Donato Group, while holding a permanent position as hospital pharmacist at IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.
He obtained his specialization in Hospital Pharmacy from the University of Camerino and holds a Master’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Trieste. His professional experience includes roles at IRCCS INRCA in Ancona, where he worked both as a clinical research pharmacist and in emergency pharmaceutical response during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a fellowship in prescribing optimization at the University Health Authority of Udine (ASUIUD).
Dr. Paoletti has contributed to international research projects on geriatric pharmacotherapy, polypharmacy, and deprescribing, including the European-funded iKASCADE and GENDERNET initiatives. He is co-author of several peer-reviewed publications in international journals and has served as a reviewer for European Geriatric Medicine, the official journal of the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS). He has also been invited as a speaker at national and international conferences on hospital pharmacy.
Education
2018 – Master’s Degree in Pharmacy - University of Trieste (UNITS) - Final grade: 110/110 Thesis: The Role of the Pharmacist in the National Health Service and the Importance of Clinical Trials.
2023 – Specialization in Hospital Pharmacy (Postgraduate Residency Program) - University of Camerino (UNICAM) - Final grade: 110/110 cum laude with special commendation, Thesis: Identifying key prescribing cascades in older people (iKASCADE) – International project on prescribing appropriateness in older adults with a focus on sex and gender differences.
