Biography

Dr. Hamid Al-Saiegh is a Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Teaching Hospital.

He performs general and laparoscopic surgical procedures, including laparoscopic gallbladder removal, hysterectomy and oophorectomy, abdominal hernia repair, liver cyst removal, splenectomy, and breast tumor removal. He also performs surgical and laser treatment of hemorrhoids and fistulas, as well as tumor removal, particularly in the neck region, including thyroid, parotid, and salivary gland surgeries, in addition to the surgical treatment of gastrointestinal tumors.
In scientific research, Dr. Al-Saiegh has supervised numerous studies, including a comparative study between laparoscopic abdominal wall hernia repair and conventional open surgery. He has also conducted a recent study on risk factors associated with laparoscopic gallbladder removal. In addition, he has research examining the relationship between breast cancer and prostate-specific antigen (PSA). He is currently involved in ongoing research under review on genetic factors affecting first- and second-degree relatives of patients with appendicitis, as well as other studies under review.

Dr. Al-Saiegh is a Fellow of the Iraqi Council for Medical Specializations and a member of the Iraqi Society of Surgeons. He serves as a supervisor with the Arab Board of Health Specializations. He has participated as a session chair at the First Al-Najaf Conference on Minimally Invasive Surgery and has been invited to attend numerous conferences both within Iraq and internationally.

He has published numerous research papers in international medical journals, including the Journal of Medicine and Surgery, JMSP, and the JAR Journal of Medical Sciences.
